all right what is up ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the Brandon coin YouTube channel I hope everybody is having a great day and I keep getting questioned on how exactly do you set up your salad because you're getting jobs and I'm not and um I figured I would show you guys live but uh getting jobs is not a guarantee uh it's like fishing or standing in line you have to put in the time um but I figured this would be a good opportunity cuz I just um stood up a new rig with a 3090 in it I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 uh and I put Chrome remote desktop on it and chrome and that's the only thing I've put on it so far so now I'll actually show you um what my process is of getting a system set up software side um after you get like actual Windows done let me hold on let me text my wife back and let her know that I'm I'm just streaming for a second doing a quick live stream and if you're if you're watching this after the fact just please comment down below if you have any questions concerns join our Discord we have a lot of people that you know you get on salad and it is a little you know disheartening because you you turn a rig on and it goes to calculating and it's calculating and calculating and it takes time because there's such a back log uh there's so many people waiting and there's just not enough jobs yet so anyway um let me switch screens over here and there we are okay so this is my new RTX 3090 rig and if we open up task manager to show you the hardware uh this is what I recommend hardware-wise um at least an 8 core 16 thread um some people say you can get away with a four core or a six core but um it's just a fact that on the customer side they can request up to 16 vcores so if you have 16 threads uh that means you're eligible for the top uh earning jobs cuz somebody might request 16 vores and if you're on a quad core system you're not going to get that job even though 99% of the time they never hit the the CPU hard um Michael says two of your four are calculating right now I have two cards calculating I have one of my older 309s and I have a 3060 that's calculating but um regardless so this is a ryzen 75700 g um I have a bunch of these combo kits that just came in um so with the b550 motherboards I'm going to have some of them for sale on my website I'm going to keep some of them so just you know look out for that oh man I just hit my microphone can you guys still hear me how's the audio what's up mining meister and Noah hello welcome so yeah at least 8 core 16 thread uh on the CPU side that enables you to have earn the top jobs then going down to memory right now if you have a 24 GB vram card uh which is a 3090 390 TI or 490 I'm going to suggest you to have at least 64 gigs of system memory um right now on the customer side it says they can only um rent up to 64 gigs of memory but from what I understand there are custom jobs that have been negot iated through salad uh outside of the initial um like you know calculator on the front end so I have seen where people have jobs that go well into the 70 80 gigabyte range uh but it's not very common so for right now still 64 gigs gets the job done on memory side um DDR3 ddr4 or ddr5 and also uh the speed of the memory right now does not matter customers cannot request speed or four generations of system memory uh as for an SSD um I pulled a 120 off last night and changed it over to a 500 on that rig and then I figured since I'm starting a new system we're going to go ahead and put a one terabyte in here because some of those container files do bloat and they get big and if they get too big it'll drop the job and you'll quit earning and that's that's not good what's up Nick Yankee have uh you have 5×5 good sir awesome Aviation talk for we can hear you good oh thank you appreciate that I had one pull 70 Michael Smith see confirmed 70 gigs being pulled uh aorn Strider yo we're live give me about four minutes catch up oh yeah no problem bro um as for internet connection uh I tell people a lot of times you know I I suggest ethernet of course uh but you can get away with Wi-Fi if you have a good adapter so I am doing salad on Wi-Fi at my office and I have um I think they're the TP Link what is it ac600 so they do 2.4 or or 5 GHz and um they seem to be decent I have used some of those little cheap Wi-Fi dongles in the past and they you know cut in and cut out and that would be horrible on salad it would constantly be dropping jobs um so that's another thing that people don't take into account is your internet reliability uh has to be there if you're dropping in and out of Internet whether it be you know a bad ethernet controller a bad Wi-Fi controller bad Wi-Fi dongle uh any of those things could make you drop jobs where your CPU your system Ram um and your graphics card could be fine um and now as for the graphics card I have an Nvidia RTX 390 in here 24 gig vram card these cards should be in that I'd say4 to $6 range averaging out about $5 a day once they get jobs I I am going to do an update on this video because it is 629 2024 so June 29th 2024 and it's around 8:00 p.m.
Um and I'd like to follow up a video or a live stream when this this computer actually gets a job whether it be a day two days 3 days I think it's going to be a while cuz I have another 3090 that's sitting calculating as well crazy to think you're just 30 minutes down the road need to have you come visit the shop 100% yeah I do I need to come down there my 3060 12 gig all have just under $2 jobs and I'm thrilled my 4080 super is doing literally nothing yeah the the bigger jobs for some reason well obviously there's less bigger jobs available right now there's a lot of small jobs so take that into account all right so now we know CPU memory hard drive or or solid state and it doesn't have to be an nvme uh you can get away with a SSD um Regular old SAT SSD I just would not run on a spinning hard drive and then graphics card so by the way 309s 3090 TI basically earn identical I haven't seen anybody put up any numbers that are like way crazy or way worth paying extra for a 3090 ti so we're going to minimize task manager right now and the next thing the first thing I do on a fresh Windows install is I go ahead and run Windows updates I already did that so you guys don't have to you know suffer through sitting when seeing Windows updates go uh and then I download uh Google Chrome and then Chrome remote desktop that's how I'm remoting into this system right now um and RDP regular remote does not work it will uh kill your jobs I don't know why but it will Chrome remote desktop will not but you do have to use um a little HDMI or display port uh dummy plug uh because Chrome remote desktop does weird things with like screen resolution if you don't have a monitor or something plugged into it so the next thing we're going to do Mr but butas I've earned nothing for 35 hours on two rigs um whenever my rigs are sitting idle that's when I go ahead and update salad and I update any drivers and I run Windows updates as well go ahead and check for updates and um and then I just let them sit and calculate once the supply of spinning drives is finally depleted we won't have them anymore yeah yeah they'll be gone they'll probably go up in value at that point Noah 4090 would make 490s I right now I have seen somewhere in the you know anywhere from $5 to $7 uh actually the mining King had some $7 jobs on a couple of his 490s whenever he had a power outage and it kicked all those off and now he's only got about half of them on jobs but they're not on $7 jobs unfortunately are you on 3.6 now you mean 1.6 this is a brand new system system so we're not on anything at the moment so I need to go over to um NVIDIA drivers did I download the driver on this one yet I don't think I did no I did not so we need to go down and I don't go to this one normally because on the 309s I've still been pulling the um the 552 driver I don't know why but I feel like I feel like it's better probably is not but that's that's just what I've been doing and uh on my daily live stream of the evenings I do show which drivers are on which cards so you can you know take that with a grain of salt so 3090 boom I like using this um website well it's nvidia.com they're both nvidia.com but I like using this one because this is the one that shows multiple different drivers so you can go to view more versions cuz this one is 5.56 ooh this is a new new one uh release date June 27th so this was released just a couple days ago game ready driver you know what let's go with it why not um let's do this one get that game ready driver view that's interesting I didn't know there was a new new one I thought it was still 555 we'll download that and talk to the live chat for a minute Aragorn Strider says he's sitting on 30 $2 a day train right now got a few idle systems such as life uh he's got $4 capable Cards doing 1.6 range so I'm an underperformer I think that's pretty average um there's going to be cards that just ain't doing it for a while I had gosh I had 1390 that was stuck on like two $250 jobs for a minute before it actually picked up some real jobs how long do you think salad will remain profitable Jersey Jedi so salad is doing something different than what vast is doing on vast which is another AI compute platform you can put your system up there for rent and then you get to name your own prices the only problem with that is when there's a lot of Supply so there's a lot of rigs out there available everybody is it's a race to the bottom so everybody keeps lowering their price down um Tech bites with Ron just subscribed thank you Tech bites with Ron um are you mining too yes I have a couple cards Mining and a couple CPUs but basically nothing um in the grand scheme of things so on vast everybody gets to set their own prices so people are keep undercutting themselves and like I said it's a race to the bottom so that's how you end up with you know card rental prices keep going down and down and down on salad they set the prices on the jobs that the customers get and they what they told me is they try to base the the job work load on and what they're renting on how it pays so you know a 3090 should be if everything's working and everything's going good should be right around a $5 card a day cuz I was asking like what should it be making and they're like you know that's that's kind of their target obviously some are going to be higher some are going to be lower um and that's just that's the the name of the game of trying to keep those cards fed uh and I'm like okay I get that um because I had some ones that were like really underperforming and I didn't understand why and they were like well if your reliability and UPS score uh or you know rating there's been a couple people say that there is no backend reliability score and I can 100% vouch and verify that that is that is incorrect there is uh and rigs that stay up and get jobs done and don't drop jobs get jobs way easier than brand new rigs or ones that are constantly being restarted um so yeah sorry we we went off on a tangent there we're almost done with this this driver download uh I had a rig recently that had power supply issues it would only run for 6 to 12 hours before powering off needless to say its reliability score is probably wrecked how can I start uptime score from scratch um some people have said that uninstalling and reinstalling salad uh fixes the uptime score and I asked them you know the team about that asked a couple different people on the salad team and they said uninstalling and reinstalling does not fix a reliability score they do pull Hardware IDs um off of your Hardware whenever it ises The Benchmark because they're trying to see what you truly have because they did have people that were flashing cards to say they were one card and they were actually another card to try to trick the system and get you know higher paying jobs um which I had no idea that that was even happening and that's actually like kind of Genius uh but somebody's always looking the game the system um but is there any way to fix your reliability your uptime score let your system run and just wash it wash it out with continual uptime and um even if you do have a bad spell um leaving it on will wash it out you'll get to that you know 90 95 99% it may not seem like it and I wish they would show us but I do understand where they're coming from because they don't want to uh you know what's the right word here I want to make sure I I communicate this effectively uh they don't want to discourage people that may have had internet issues or power outages stuff that's out of their control um hurt their score and then they're like you know oh they may never you know never try it again cuz they say they saw their their reliability score go down and I'm like I get that I understand that but like I was telling them um a lot of people especially a lot of my audience that have come into it and you know a lot of crypto miners we are very data and analytical and um very numbers driven so if we see a bad number and we know how to fix it we'll fix it but a lot of their Market is not that at least it wasn't I think it is definitely shifting um so we'll see um they didn't they said that they probably wouldn't have individual rig stats before the end of the year and then look you know we're not even H we're a little over halfway through the year and they've already started implementing individual rig stats they did tell me that um they basically having all this extra power on the network has given them fuel to dump on the fire of uh extra development time extra development costs and funds and all that kind of stuff because now they can go out to all these customers and sell more hash power or not hash power but more compute power because they're like hey we got blah blah blah thousands of 309s and 490s and 480s and 3080s on our Network we're ready to compute whatever you need computed whereas before they were begging people to put their cards on there they they had way more Supply or way more de sorry demand then they had Supply backwards whatever you know what I mean how's it going Brandon coin good salad updates yeah absolutely um so we're trying out the 55 6.12 driver on this brand new system system have not even installed salad on it yet but we are about to so salad summary here we're going go ahead and log in I agree sign in with Google Brandon coin computers you know how it is will the CMP 100- 210 work with well with salad if will not unfortunately I was asking them about the mining cards and how it would work or if it would work well and they said no right now they don't support any of the mining cards um you can do mining on them but you're not going to get workload or container workloads so yeah that that's a bummer with salad 10 or 12 core makes more sense Zeon um as at a cost perspective right now an8 core will make you eligible to get all of the jobs because as I had said earlier a customer can only rent up to 16 vores or 16 threads threads count as V cores so an 8 core 16 thread um is just as eligible as a 10 core 20 thread or a 12 core 24 thread now they have said that in the future they will be expanding what customers can rent so obviously having more cores is not a bad thing not a bad thing at all so we'll wait for salad to download then we'll get that launched and I'll show you how I set up my salad what's up Rizzo welcome to the live chat what are the choices for dressing I prefer Ranch myself Yankee whenever I'm having a good salad I love some Italian some good old Italian dressing uh Rambler you haven't missed much this is just a fresh a fresh system that I'm kind of showing people how I get set up what and talking about it and that kind of thing just trying to give some information back because there's a lot of misinformation going around on salad Rizzo got any of those 12 core zons with a board and cooler in stock I don't need RAM so right now they are listed as back ordered but if you order um just a just a cooler just CPU and just a motherboard you will get one shipped out and they'll be shipped out Monday don't order Ram I am back out of ram again so I'm waiting on more RAM to come in to get caught up on the order it's like they're they're selling like hot cakes and some I've reached out to some people asking what they're doing and um I have like four or five people that are using them in flipping builds so they're buying these throwing them in a flipping build uh and then you know like a little gaming build and then flipping them and they're actually doing like I guess really well with it which that's that's fine that's awesome um it's just I didn't think there would be that much demand for like zons they're awesome CPUs that's what I'm using right now I'm using a 12 core Zeon on this personal machine and I've had no issues with it I can play Call of Duty pubg stream run salad all that stuff so we're almost done downloading what in the leafy greens is going on in here crypto Mel we're just uh we're setting up a new 3090 salad machine and I'm showing people how I do it kind of on the software side um so we just downloaded salad we're on 1.6.0 so we're on the latest Nvidia driver latest salad driver uh Windows updates have been fully run and we are using Chrome remote desktop just to give you a quick run through of the software suite not not a lot of software going on right now uh some people have said you know why don't you use like a cut down version of Windows I'm using regular Windows 10 Pro it's what I've always used that's what I'm going to it works I'm going to keep it that way when you were trying to say simulation the other day and you said my North Carolina is coming out it killed me yeah you know what we're just avoiding that MW right there my brain can't compute it okay so now we're up for a reboot we'll go ahead and reboot this let it come back online then we'll launch salad um and show you my settings and how I get everything going on salad Mr Bat upgraded to 1.6 if it gets a job got to go to bed nice to see you Brandon take it easy brother um yeah so if you have rigs that are sitting and calculating um you might as well go ahead and up update them um you're not that little bit of time from and by the way always set it to pause while idle or pause until idle that stops the salad process um so you don't corrupt the install uh and then go ahead and update your salad because you have nothing to lose at that point um web guy Mike I bought a 12 core Zeon from you the other day and you shipped it so fast then you showed my order on your video awesome well web guy Mike I appreciate you and um yeah yeah I try to get them out um I've had really really hard time sourcing Ram I'm getting motherboards out the wazu uh I'm getting CPUs out the wazu every time I try to place a big order of ram um it either like and this is happened to me on eBay this happened to me on a couple different places um I ordered like I think it was like 40 something sticks a 32 gig uh Samsung ddr4 ordered it on eBay sent all the money and it sat there and sat there and they never shipped it and ended up being like a week later then they canceled it and I'm just like oh my God I needed the ram so luckily now I've been buying Ram from different places um my costs fluctuate a little bit so um that's not always cool or fun I need to find a permanent supplier of um 32 gig sticks that's that's what I need um all right so this one is is this one right here we'll go ahead and we'll rename this one this is AI Das 5700 G d390 number this is number five I believe it's actually number six but it's the 5th 3090 but it's the sixth rig that's being numbered I haven't numbered all the rigs yet but what I did is I got my little label maker cuz I'm they're all in identical cases and I printed out a number 1 2 3 4 5 six so that way I know which systems which hash rate junkie you think it's okay to use half my 5900 X for crypto mining seeing as it does not need all the threads yeah I I think you can get away with 25 to 50% and you probably be fine um let's see here we'll go ahead and we're going to I like pinning it to the taskbar so it's down there we'll click salad to let it run I like pulling open Task Manager as well The Travelers travels I'm working but lurking as usual glad to have you bro all right so let's go ahead and we'll click log in just curious about Nash is it still a viable option for crypto mining today Rambler um yeah yeah I actually ended up going uh to mining disrupt down in Miami and I talked to I don't know if he was head of marketing or lead of marketing for us for nice has but it was funny because he recognized me because I've I guess I've done a lot of nice has content in the past uh we had a good conversation ni has is starting to turn their direction towards Ai and compute as well um oh look at that I'm a star Chef by the way so this is a great Point whenever you get starf on one rig it is per account not per rig so this is a brand new system I just turned it on brand new graphics card it's none of this Hardware has ever been used on salad and look at that I already got a star Chef right away so boom got it awesome um let's go ahead and we'll close that out but yeah so nice hash is I would consider it good and decent for AI uh or sorry for crypto mining I'll tell you about the the stuff he was talking about with AI here shortly so yeah this one estimates $100 per month that's great um we want to configure workload types manually I'm going to turn video streaming off because I do not have asynchronous fiber so I don't have 1 gig up 1 gig down unlimited I have 500 down and 50 up so video streaming would never end up actually running it would just do the Benchmark it would fail it would waste time on my system um and and by the way if you don't have truly unlimited internet I don't suggest using salad so we're going to go ahead and wh list and Defender yep let it run Powershell do not select a Target reward it will just keep aggravating you once you hit the reward I always skip it hit finish setup but we're not actually done um you need to go back down to salad and then see it says 4 or six click on the question mark and then you need to set up your container environment on okay some times it it's already done so you just this one's already done click next step and then finish setup and uh see it's glitched out um I'm going to have to restart the computer again uh it won't let me set up the container environment it's it's like not showing up correctly lovely Yep this one of those one of those days we'll do another restart better to get this stuff uh your setup done out of the way before you start chopping because once you come online that's when that that score per rig I think gets logged uh let's see here hash rates junky says or sorry I already answered that web guy Mike says Rambler only if you get free Power yeah right now GPU mining doesn't make much Brandon coin are you 32 GB kits coming in as 1 * 32 or 2 * 16 so I am removing the 16 GB option on all the motherboards because I'm only ordering 32 gig sticks from now on um logistically and uh storagewise and Supply wise it doesn't make sense for me to buy 16 gig sticks 8 gig sticks and 32 gig sticks I'm only doing 32 gig sticks so there's going to end up being two options on the website a 32 gig option and a 64 gig option for now um in the future the salad team said that they will have bigger workloads come online uh so I guess we will have 128 gig options in the future as well uh Matthew Miller does salad have a kernel process or something other means of identifying when salad is either calculating chopping idle or active I mean not not that I know of other than the fact that you know you can look down in the bottom um I have asked if they will show that information on the dashboard and I guess them giving individual rig stats you can see when a rig's making money per hour and you can see when a rig's not making money that kind of gives you an idea but then you don't know if it's in a degraded state or not so it's just that's right now you have to log into every machine essentially all right so look at that we restarted the system and we're at five out of six so if you have a system that the WSL or the container what is it container environment is not set up and you click enable and it won't go through um give it once you click that button give it like a good solid 120 seconds count them out Mississippi seconds so one Mississippi 2 Mississippi if it still doesn't work um then you need to make sure you run Windows updates and have everything updated and you will have to restart it and then run them again because Windows updates will automatically pull in your WSL install some people said it won't and then you have to go in and follow the uh command line way to actually do it the only time I've run into that is when I didn't install all the windows updates I only ran Windows updates once and then restarted the system and it says you're up to date and you can click the box says check for updates you click it again and then it pulls more updates in uh ever since then I haven't had to touch that command line on like the last five or six rigs so we're good five out of six that's right on the money um and then we just go to I want to see this on the performance tab or well we'll leave it on processes sort by memory and we'll set it to chop so we're at 29 minutes guys I'm going to give it another couple more minutes just some uh answer some questions and then we will be jumping off here and I will do a follow-up video so this is what is it June 29th 2024 at 8:00 P.M uh I will do another video or live stream when this system starts actually pulling jobs um right now there's there's a lack of jobs going around so this one is probably going to be idle for a while uh but I'm willing to put the time in because the the difference in putting a 3090 on mining versus doing AI workloads is it's not even comparable um let's see here Northern Lights custom PCS hey what's one I was wondering what a good uh what's a fair price on the 3090 so I have been selling 309s right around the high 600s low 700s range I probably have another two Founders editions that I'm going to be putting on the website right here ah um I was thinking about running these personally but um I think I'm going to uh sell off these two and swing for a 4090 so that way I can get some data points on a 4090 and I might be able to hit those you know proverbial my there's my North Carolina speak coming out proverbial able proverbial perable those the big $10 container jobs those jobs have not been available for about a a little over a month month and a half but there were people that had $10 container jobs on 490s and I one can only hope that we would get them back um yeah you know what I mean uh what's your price for 64 gigs of RAM I'm not selling Ram individually right now I'm only uh packaging it with mother wordss and I think I think let's go to BC pc.com I think I I tried to disable all the ram kits but somebody said that the 32 and 16 were still available so I need to go on tonight and actually switch that up so if you go over to the 12 core combo kits yeah 64 is disabled why are 16 and 32 still available that's crazy um so with a 12 core 64 gigs of RAM motherboard and cooler right at 227 and then if you get the 10 core option instead of the 12 core option it's a little bit cheaper um 217 so uh that's 60 that's 232 gig sticks so then you can upgrade to 128 gigs later on um CPU motherboard cooler cracket blah blah blah blah every everything minus a power supply some sort of some sort of storage Drive um and then a graphics card yeah random live again yeah I I you know everybody's like man are you going to do like a live schedule I think my schedule is just when I'm available you know what I mean um because I can it's I never have enough time to like really hammer it out and even my daily one it it varies in between like a 4 hour to five hour window that I might come online or might be live hash rate junkie I Chuck a win I get a 10-cent job so um we have a theory about that I think those 10 oh my God no way we just hit a job on this rig wow okay that's insane um well what's really crazy is so this is on a $378 job that's a really weird number um have not seen these container jobs but I have another 3090 that's Sitting Waiting um I think it's 3090 number three why wouldn't the one that was sitting and waiting get the job first yeah see this one's sitting and waiting calculating see that why wouldn't this one get it first so you we still have VM and we still have salad bowl that is so peculiar um I'm going to reach out to the the salad team and see if they can't give some clarification on this um it doesn't well yeah it doesn't it doesn't make sense I'm I'm going to be honest with you it doesn't make sense why why this system that has been up for 18 hours didn't get the job and the other one did and they're almost identical this this system is actually on paper better it's a 12 core Zeon with 64 gigs of RAM that is that's wild and you know what we caught it on live so that's kind of cool uh Brandon coin names his remote machines like I named mine oh nice to see you Matthew Miller salad bowl service yeah salad bowl service is still running on that other one as well Matthew Miller can you click uh next to salad so we can see the process it has running um I don't know what where do you want me to see that the VM MIM is where the docker runs that's why it ends up eating up Ram this one is not even using much RAM and it was on a $3 $3.7 and it's using 72 gigs um I don't know about that something don't seem right your 4090 sitting idle Northern Lights that's that's wild uh Michael Smith says I feel like when you start a new machine you get one kind of quick to get you hooked and that that may be a thing um the only yeah that may be a thing because the other machine that I I changed the drive out in that would make sense because because salad wouldn't think that's a new machine because it already pulled those Hardware ID numbers from that 3090 that motherboard that CPU I changed the solid state drive but it's not a new machine oh so that's why it didn't give it a job right away it just thinks it had downtime whereas this is a brand new machine none of this Hardware has been on salad so when it pulled these hard these Hardware ID numbers it's like oh that's a brand new rig let me give him a $3 job which I'm going to be honest I've never seen a mid $3 job on a390 super weird um Jefferson this is normal and solid always when you install a new machine with clean windows you get a temporary Container makes sense that that makes more sense than than what I was thinking previously Terry what Ram you looking to I have a guy that I might be able to hook up with I used to run an electronics recycling company and he was my main buyer Terry uh yeah reach out to me so my um shop cell phone number is 919 906 4947 send me a text message uh and we can link up I'm looking to get 32 gig sticks uh and I would prefer Samsung or Micron um I've had really good luck out of out of those obviously it can be you know a different name brand uh I do want to stay away from Team group I've already had two sticks of Team group Ram die motherboards when they come in for a 48 hour burn in is it really an exploit if you're using new hardware I don't think this container job is going to stay online for a full 24 hours but I'd I'd be curious to see it's at 381 now very interesting um I'm about to jump off here so we'll uh we'll we'll get to these last few messages and I will be going live later on tonight probably around midnight between AI compute workloads um so right now they have a uh a dockerized container or Docker container so that way you can load them up on vast rigs and you can mine to nice hash and and have it auto profit switch um in between your vast workloads but I asked him I was like you know what about other platforms he said they're looking to do it on flux Edge um uh what was the other one tensor Dock
