Laptop RTX 4060 Mining

what is up ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the Brandon coin YouTube channel I hope everybody is having a swell day I am back in the computer shop today shout out BC PCS anyway um we got some laptop tradein so uh I figured maybe let's let's see what they hash um this one uh is a newer one uh it's got an i7 13650 HX which is actually a 14 core it's got six performance cores eight efficiency cores for a total of 20 threads because the efficiency cores are not hyperthreaded or something like that uh regardless though I haven't done much mining ever on any of the like new 13th or 14th gen stuff so we'll give it a go also this laptop right here has a RTX 4060 in it um so we'll see how a mobile 4060 does uh let's see here see on the um on the on here it doesn't list it as a mobile 4060 I just assuming it's a mobile 4060 says it has 8 gigs of video RAM oh yeah it says RTX 460 laptop so just another word for saying a mobile uh but yeah let me flip this around I'll go ahead and um I'm going throw unminable on there just cuz it's easy easy and see what we hash right out the box all right so I originally had just had it running on battery power it was only doing about 20 Mega hash we're currently mining uh Etc on the GPU and then 4100 hashes on Monero and after that was like 2500 after I plugged it in it went up to 4,000 and then 30.6 just straight up out of the box no overclocking nothing like that um I don't know if this chip is overclocked able or not I don't think it is being it's a laptop chip and it's a HX I don't know what the x is for but um I am going to install uh MSI After Burner and see how that GPU is doing so be right back all right so tweaking on it a little bit I was able to pull the core clock back uh temperatures are at 73 74 and holding with it laying flat down I imagine if I lifted it up it would probably be better I'm not going to be mining on this longterm by the way guys I don't suggest mining on laptops um you know do it your own caution that kind of thing mining on laptops was something we did back when we couldn't get actual physical graphics cards in the last shortage but uh there's no shortage anymore so we don't need to do that let me me lift this thing up cuz it's just getting warmer all right so it looks like it's almost 132 megahash on Etc not very impressive um able to hit that on like a RX 580 from years past but nobody expected these 40 60s to do good because they have a narrow uh memory bus on them uh so that's kind of in my opinion holding them back um now CPU wise they're actually doing fairly good to be just like stock out of the box doing 4k on XMR so I'm going to stop this and run it on uh kapal and see what we're doing on Capal cuz Etc hash is not exactly what a lot of people are mining anymore be right back all right so for unforeseen reasons I don't know why but I load up kapow on here uh and it crashes after about a minute it'll start Mining and then just go back to zero I check the logs and it says Miner crashed uh I reset overclocks back to zero and it still won't work so I switched it over to zel has or flux and it seems to be happily mining at around 50 SS uh to put that in reference a 2060 doeses about 40ish um a 3070 is in the 60 range a 3060 is in the um uh the high 40s so being that this is a 4060 it's kind of right there in between like a 3060 and a 3070 uh but not quite a 3060 TI which that's with no tweaking or no over clocks nothing like that um I don't like the fact that it's running so warm it's bouncing between 85 and then it'll go back down to 81 um probably like a lot of people will say I don't suggest mining on a laptop so we're going to go ahead stop all this we're going to revert this bad boy back to factory because I actually have a guy coming to look at this today but I thought it would make a good video just to check it out um also whenever it was mining the zel hash it was uh boosting the GPU up which I could probably pull that core clock back make it run a little bit cooler but it was pulling power from the CPU cuz these only have a set amount of power that they can use so if your GPU is using more power your CPU is using less and you can see the CPU started going down as soon as I turn that one off CPU comes right back up to 4K so um not going to be able to overclock that CPU because there's already not enough power to go around uh but yeah so just a cool little video seeing what's going on on the laptop mining World it hasn't got any better at least not with the uh laptop 4060 anyway guys I'm going to see youall on the next one peace wanted to do a little experiment if I'm not mining on the GPU at all so it's giving as much power as possible to the CPU it's almost doing 4.6 look at that check that bad boy out almost 5K on um on XMR so that's kind of cool but as soon as you turn on the GPU watch pulls power away from that CPU and she comes on down yep yep all right later guys the video is over for real this time for
