Broken gpu from market place rtx2080

what is up ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the Brandon coin YouTube channel I hope everybody is having a swell day and uh on the way home I tend to traffic the uh the old Facebook Marketplace and I ran across somebody that had a RTX 2080 where is it it's right here um and it was having some issues so um he had it listed for a spicy $100 so I messaged him and I'm like What's the issues and he was like some times the display like blinks in and out and I'm like artifacting maybe that that's what you're talking about like art like do does anything pop up little lines any of that he's like no just sometimes screen goes black and I'm like how often does it do it and he's like every few hours maybe like once or twice and I'm like let's roll the dice on it I'm like what will you take for it cash right now I'm on the way home from work and he's like man 7 $5 and I'm like $75 is fair but potentially I'm just buying a cooler and a dead card which is fine because I have a [Music] 2080 no I have a I don't remember I have something else that needs a cooler so it's I maybe can make it work or you at least use the fans from it but um long story short I was just like I don't know what about if you can meet me over here and then he said hey 50 bucks that's my bottom and I'm like I didn't even offer 50 but yeah I'm coming by so wham bam thank you ma'am I stopped by and picked up this RTX 2080 for 50 bones um I'm going to go ahead and say it now I predict I'm going to plug this thing in it's not going to do anything I bought a brick but you know what it's a pretty it's a pretty brick um so this is a Ventus 2080 8 gig MSI in my opinion this is kind of like this line the Ventus line is kind of when MSI started going downhill um yeah just hot take there so anyway I am going to put this into my main computer because I've been having issues out of the 2070 that's in there let see here shut down and hopefully I mean hopefully this bad boy will just power up that would be nice so the 270 that was in there I'll show you guys here in a second once it Powers down it's that weird 20 70 that's like a low power it's not a mobile but it is a mobile or at least I think it's a mobile uh but it shows up as a full 2070 hold on where's the power switch at is that the power switch yeah there we go okay so let me pop this bad boy out thank you man pull this guy off and uh I think they ISS I'm running into gaming issues on this 2070 and I think that's due to the fact that it's basically like a gimped 2070 um it doesn't go up to full power so you know decent for mining it's okay for mining I'm not going to say it's like a great mining card but um I did a video on it so go back and look look up like 2070 LP cuz that's what the these were sold as a 270 low power Edition it's got all the cicor it doesn't clock up and it doesn't allow you to clock it up inside of Hive it actually shows up with zero as the power limit which Hive does not like that so I'm hoping even if it blinks once every couple hours I'll be happy for this thing and I imagine whenever he you know somebody hears that there's like a a graphics card and it's got a problem I'm I'm guessing he went down on his price because nobody wants to touch it with you know a 10-ft pull or at least not your average person it was listed today so I don't think he had a ton of hits on it but you never know who knows this this thing could just be dead as a door nail I could have just bought a absolute wagon Dro My screwdriver there we go let's plug it in the power one plug and and two plugs two plugs for the big Power on the 2080 now plug the monitors in is this the right cable I have like three HDMI cables back here but I only have two monitors imagine that okay that's not the right HDMI cable display port there we go and HDMI there we go all right drum roll ladies and gentlemen sorry you've been seeing my side let's we'll turn this on these are both of my monitors let's hit the power button all right not a good sign the fans are not spinning and we are getting no display we'll give it a second we'll give it a second we still have no fans and no display um I am running an x99 motherboard so it does have like the the boot numbers up here in the top like what it's running through so we're on B4 A2 now D6 it's running all the the prepost or the post checks power on self test checks um I'm hoping hoping those fans will spin up here in a second but it's not looking good AA yep the system is is uh is posted and it's on but we have no display yeah that means she's dead I bought a break you win some you lose some dang dang what else do I have so I don't have to put that boofy old 270 back in there or 270 I have a 1070 TI I don't technically normally that would be a step down from a 2070 but being that that was a low power 2070 I think it's 1070 TI might be actually a step up so all right power this back back down dang that is unfortunate you know what let's make this all one cut let me grab that 1070 TI it's right over here all right so the 1070 TI that I have is this Asus Cerberus check it out Cerberus uh pretty cool 1070 TI don't didn't see a a lot of these back in when I was in the 10 series big old maen Cher sticker right there if you can't see that hold on anyway everything's basically made in China nowadays so what does it matter wonder if I'll see better performance out of the 1070 TI versus that that low power 27 I'm going to guess that I kind of probably will now the other question is what do I do with this gimped 2080 I'm definitely going to see if this cooler will fit on that other card I don't know if it was a 2080 or not or if it was a might have been a 1080 TI I I had a card that needed a cooler I don't think it'll work on a 1080 TI they're just totally different you know what before we give up on it cuz I did have some issues every now and then for the top slot let's try the let's try the second down slot on this motherboard I don't know why I just feel like I need to you know every now and then this this is I've had this motherboard for a while it is a um it's actually a really nice motherboard let me pull I'll pull the name for you guys here in a second it is a Asus Rampage 5 Edition 10 x99 board I've been using this setup for years and been super happy with it with like a a seller on in it 12 core kind of want to step up to like a like a 18 or a 22 core but okay yeah no no display it's like I'm hoping that it's just going to come to life yeah she ain't she ain't she ain't giving us the ghost tonight that's fine I didn't even screw it in this time plug that unplug that pull that out boom should fell right out of there I guess old 1070 TI it is what's cool about this motherboard if you guys are not familiar is look at that she's got one two three four fullsize slots so lots and lots of expansion it does run quad Channel Ram so you can run up to 8 scks of ram right now I have 8 16 what 24 30 I got 32 gigs in there at the moment and I definitely could upgrade it but um running a little 2 TB nvme over there uh she's just she's cooking along nicely so yeah it is a shame that I only have a 1070 tii in here I definitely need to give it something it deserve something better than that right let me screw this one in because I have full faith that this one will work I was I tested it a while ago this is the one I repasted it was running hot got that Asus C bous cooler on it which in my opinion is not a great cooler but looks kind of cool man still kind of stinks that I I fumbled the old 2080 by you know you win some and you lose some I guess though right can't win them all all right let's power back up fans are spinning on that one no display yet but being that this is an older x99 board and I don't have the quick boot on it always does take a minute to boot up I hope that that 2080 didn't hurt my motherboard it's still going through the the post posting fans are spinning on the 1070 ti so that's good it's kind of weird it's taking a while to boot up looking inside here kind of makes me really want to redo this build there we go bam okay gosh that was a ridiculously long post but it did post anyways um where is it where' it go oh right here so I guess no cigar on the 2080 um comment down below what should I do with this I know this card isn't quite worth sending off um to get like you know Diagnostic and fixed because these things are not worth nearly as much as they used to be I think in working condition 2080s are in like the is it mid the high 300 no it ain't no it ain't even 300 no more I believe these are in the they're in the 200's now I don't get a ton of 2080s oddly enough 3080s yes 2080s no um I just don't think these card sold very well cuzz like everybody that had 1080s and 1080 TI they're like 20 series what's that they kind of skipped it and just went straight to 30 series all right let me get uh this 1070 TI all hooked up and plugged in anyways thanks for hanging out and um
