[Music] hey guys red pen mining here hope you're doing well having a really great day this video I just wanted to talk about the ice River ks0 Ultra we have one here actually two here which I've had now for I've had this one for about 2 weeks and then this one I've had about for a week now and this one here specifically we did unbox this and take it apart in a live stream we did see how many chips it has apparently it is the same chips I mean I guess 12 chips as like the ks Pro but they obviously have uh manufactured much better efficiency and just achieve more hash rate because these things do 400 gigahash at about 100 Watts very efficient little tiny miners but of course you know they had the ks zos like a year ago and then the ks Z Pro like half a year ago and now they have the ksz ultra so what's going to come out in like 3 or 6 months like the ks zero master or something and we had issues with unscrewing okay for anyone that is going to be taking this apart be sure to be careful of the screws the standoffs apparently there's like locktite on them and so if you try to unscrew the eight screws from the main board off the heat sink it's not going to unscrew the screw it's going to be stuck in with the motherboard standof so you have to be careful that you know you got to unscrew them you know one by one and like you know slowly on each each one and make sure it levels up uh as the board comes up because it's going to take the motherboard standoffs along uh with with it as well so you don't want to bend the board and you may crack something yeah just be careful when you take this apart okay just be careful watch that live stream I'll have it linked down below but we took this apart it was a lot of fun but also at the same time I gave it new thermal pads okay we put in I believe it was 2.5 mil thermal pad and as well as we did the copper mod as well on the mosfets and this thing is performing well but in that live stream we also did a firware update from Ice River's support website so I don't know if the new firware from Ice River may have fixed the uh I think it was a Target temperature I don't know if it was an issue for some people because these ksz Ultras if they are running a bit hotter they seem to have a bit higher hash rate okay that's what I've been hearing from a lot of people I noticed that on my ks0 Ultra as well even my ks5 L okay I'm assuming they might have the same chips that the ks5 L as it's running hotter it's achieving more hash rate so let me know down below if you guys have noticed the same thing but on this one that we modded new thermal pads new thermal paste MX6 thermal paste okay we did all that on this ksz Ultra it is still running at about 400 gigahash so just to show you guys here it's been running for the past 4 days here it's pretty much at 400 GH if we go to the mining pool on hero miners I'm mining to a gentleman who won on that live stream he has it says here past 24 hours about 405 gigahash after 24 hours on this KS Z Ultra then if I go to the other uh ksz Ultra I have here on the table that is not modded or anything like that this thing is achieving about 407 I mean 400 ghash I'm assuming it's like Silicon Lottery as well I mean but both of these have been firmware updated okay so I am getting you know 400 411 past 3 hours 24 hours it says 391 so maybe less but that could be you know silicon Lottery okay so let me know down below if you guys are noticing you know better hash rates uh you know if you're cooling it with an external fan but just to show you also show you guys the temperature differences from the stock ks0 Ultra to the one that I changed the thermal paste pads and add the copper mosfets you guys can see there is a noticeable temperature difference between both of them I do have the fan speed running Max on both of these ksz Ultras I manually changed it in the fan settings here so they are at 100% for both of them but as you can see I'm not running an external fan or anything on these guys so the stock one with nothing is just 63ยฐ CI temp 1 temp 2 says 52 here and then the one that I modded myself 58 temp one and 50 temp 2 so it seems like the temperature is lower but is that maybe hindering me on this model because I'm getting a bit less hash rate versus the stock okay this is stock and this is the uh the one that I modded so I'm expecting and probably just thinking that since this is getting a little bit cooler that you know as I've noticed on the ks0 ultra and the ks5 higher temperatures seems to give a bit higher hash rate so let me know down below if you guys have experienced the same thing by the way thank you to yes mining.
For sending me this ksz Ultra that I modded if you guys are interested in purchasing a ks0 Ultra use coupon code RPM for $20 off you're also able to pay with Caspa if you want for the ks0 okay so check them out link down below all right now I have heard that there is an overclock for the KS Z Ultra I have not tried that yet because I'm afraid that I don't have the proper power okay apparently it's going to take like 300 watts so I yeah I I guess I have to find a power adapter that you know can handle that type of capacity and uh I yeah I don't know if the veteran minor uh Barrel plug is going to be able to handle that through a six pin I don't think so so that is going to be interesting you know I'm going to be trying that out in another video next week or two uh if I'm able to find a power supply that you know this thing could overclock to I think 700 gigahash at like 300 watts though oh that's yeah that that's really I guess inefficient all right if it's going to use you know 200 more watts versus stock so I don't know let me know what you guys think about the overclock as well okay so yeah these KS Ultras just to finalize I mean these things they really are efficient the ks Ultra and a little bit more efficient than the ks5 L mind you okay so I mean currently these things are in terms of dollar value I mean it's mining about $150 but in terms of Caspa yield this thing is mining about 9 or8 a day now it is going lower every month as everyone knows the Caspa emission schedule but if you ultimately believe in Caspa and price appreciation then uh you know this thing could have a potentially fast Roi or break even okay so I am going to be uh keeping track on one of these things about you know $300 worth of Caspa Mining and holding and uh you know if this thing can mine you know8 or 10 Caspa a day in theory maybe if we Min enough Caspa like $300 or uh sorry 300 to 400 Caspa in the next 2 months then there's potential if Caspa goes to a dollar this thing may have already paid itself off so we'll see if that will ever come to uh fruition or not you know I've been doing these long-term tests of Mining and holding I'm doing the same thing on a ks5 l here's the ks5 working right now in this hot ambient temperature it's it's been doing pretty good I mean yeah as it get hotter I noticed it's running higher in hash rate and uh during like midnight when it's much cooler this thing starts going lower in hash rate so I don't know yeah I mean I feel like this as is running much better at higher temperatures you guys let me know all right let me know actually I'll show you the temperatures of this thing in the webguy okay so just showing you guys the k5l the hash board temperatures right now at 100 Fahrenheit ambient temperatures these things are under 88 the highest I see here is 88ยฐ C so much better ice River has essentially fixed uh the thermal paste on these things and it looks much better it's it's now fairing well and uh not overheating and it is also performing uh quite well as well on the k5l so yeah pretty good I'll show you the temperatures here as well temp one temp 2 you guys can see yeah this is going good of course though the fans are running full bore quite hot but it's uh it's running really good this ks5 L I have noticed that it is running very very good so uh let me know for anyone that has ks5 L's if you guys have had good experience so far so far so good I have to say on this ks5 L and uh the hash boards are not having really any issues at all um just like I guess comparing to what you know the issues we had before uh with the ks 3m's really really bad experience uh with the k3m stay tuned I do have a k5m coming and so I'm going to be doing a review of that and so of course we'll also be doing a long-term test as well on the ks 5m all right my friends that's it for today's video let me know your thoughts on everything and I will see you all in the next video Casto mining is yeah very very crazy the these days a lot of people are getting into it but yeah they've been pretty profitable Miners and uh but we'll see how long it keeps going like this and I'll keep you guys updated all right I'll see you all on the next one have a good one peace out peace out
