what is up ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the brandoncoin YouTube channel I got my chirp Miner in from the team over there at chirp um this is a Wi-Fi Miner as I like to refer to them so it is a big antenna that I'm going to deploy outside and once it's outside and deployed it's then going to offload and be able to um what was the the wordage they they said it is a decentralized physical infrastructure Network yeah big words there you know nice terminology but essentially it's going to connect and uh give more coverage for this network and then you get incentivized uh by once you deploy it and put it up you get the tokens whenever people use it so the more people use it the better the area uh the better it does so I am going to be putting one of these at my retail location and I'm also going to be mounting one of these um over here close to my house now don't know if it's going to do well at my house but it'll be a good comparison between here and there so let me flip it around and show you what we have in the Box all right so opening this up we have a uh temperature monitor we have some kind of like tape stuff we have straight up electrical tape um oh Poe adapter I believe that's the bracket to actually hold the device these are antennas big old long antennas this is an outdoor unit and this is a long range unit this is not like a little hot spot and here's the actual device and and she is a unit I do have to say this is this feels solid feels like it was built well chirp Wireless it's a rack unit do not power up without connecting antennas so here's the Poe power I like that it's Poe cuz that means all I got to run is an ethernet cable out to it um I don't did it come with like instructions no didn't really come with instructions all right well let's get this bracket figured out and I'm probably going to mount this to a tree outside of my house um so it should be up high in a good location might do a little research and see what the optimal height is all right so doing a little bit of research uh it looks like the highest available position is recommended for mounting these uh it says for single family homes putting them on the roof or extending them up from your roof is suggested um I am not going to be getting on my roof so luckily I have pine trees that are very tall and very close to my house they're actually much taller than my house which is scary because if they fall over that would be bad but uh I'm going to mount mine to the side of a pine tree um it didn't say anything about that in the um the installation guide so if that's a problem let me know uh trip guys if not then let's roll on it does recommend installing lightning arresters uh spark arresters in between the antenna and the unit I don't have any but I'm going to order some and in the meantime I'm going to install it without them so hopefully we don't have too many lightning strikes around here I don't believe um but it the big thing it says is do not power this up without the antennas attached because it will mess up the unit I don't know how or why but it will so we're not going to do that um the way this bracket works really simple this side goes on obviously up towards the antennas and then this side is going to go on the tree so then you just it goes and just and it hangs on there kind of deal so yeah super super simple now let me go grab the drill and we're going to mount this on the tree as high as we can get it luckily I do have some big ladders um got a 12T ladder right there I'm going to drag that outside and we'll go 12T up and then I'll reach up as far as I can so I'm I'm shooting to get it somewhere around like 16 feet give or take I think that's doable which yeah all right so I'm going to mount it up there um I'm not even going to try tempting attempting to hold the camera while I do it all right so I got the bracket up there and um I used 4 in uh exterior deck screws and I put I think it was like 7 1 2 3 4 five six seven I put eight of them in I put one in in every single one of the holes on the back of it so um I put my weight on it and like pulled on it and uh that thing ain't coming out of there all right so the antennas I assume they just spin on it's not as smooth as it looks like it should be why does that not just want to go on there we go okay it looks like these things should go on like butter but they kind of guess they want a cross thread or something all righty this side is not happy there we go is that all the way down maybe um I'm going to go grab some pliers and bear both of these down make sure they're tight and then we're going to go hang it up and then run the cord all right now once you get it mounted up there on the side of the bracket so there's a bracket on the back and then a bracket on the tree there's a hole so you can run uh the in included screw in to lock it down so that way it can't come off the bracket super simple easy design anybody could do it all right so now I have the poe adapter plugged in and then I have a cable going from internet Lan into here and then the cable going from here out to the actual box and if we walk out here don't mind the cable on the ground this is an indoor outdoor rated cable it's actually the same cable that they have in their pictures of descriptions of how to install this but I'm adding in a bunch of crush and run through here so I'm putting a layer of screenings down first it's going to be nice and soft and then a crush and run on top of that so this cable should be AOK um and here we got lights so she's doing something now let's go inside and uh finish the activation all right so I am back in the office um the full setup is not super difficult but it does take some time um and the only thing that really caught me off guard um was my iPhone was connected to the chirp box so I was going through the setup all that kind of thing and my iPhone just decided that you know hey this other Wi-Fi his normal Wi-Fi that's more important so it disconnected from the chir box and connected to my regular Wi-Fi without telling me and then I'm like why the heck is this not loading so I wasted about 30 minutes climbing up on the ladder looking at the Box unplugging it plugging it back in to realize that my iPhone had disconnected from it um yeah so uh I will have links down below uh if you want to get one I don't even know if they're available yet I don't think they are but I think there's like an early sign up list if you want to do that um and then uh I'll post the how-to guide from the official the chir page that I followed and everything seems to be working correctly um I can't show you my dashboard because it would straight up like docks me which that would be a little concerning cuz it like straight up shows where you're at on a map and and that kind of thing um maybe once I get the other unit up and running at my uh computer shop then I can show you there but um it shows like a little outline of like the radius I guess that it it's able to oh no maybe that's not never mind that's not a that's not a correct outline as you zoom in and out it it gets bigger and smaller so uh I don't think that's an actual active outline of of the range on these um I'm curious to see what the range is but uh right now I have no kind of data because I just got it up and running and after you can complete registration it has to be verified on their end you uh also have to take pictures of the unit take pictures of where it's mounted all that kind of stuff and submit that and I guess I'm not going to get any data any pings anything like that until I am verified and welcomed onto the network so um yeah that's I guess that's pretty much the end of the uh this the setup video um thanks for coming out thanks for watching I will definitely be doing follow-up videos on this to see how it does um whenever they do go live for sale let me see if we can actually get these things hold on chirp WiFi so chirp wireless.
Can we can we buy one I don't see one you have to link a wallet um and the the wallet is like a sui soie wallet haven't used it before I it seems to go on a Chrome extension pretty easily so we'll see how that does um and I'm getting a phone call of course I am I'll be right back okay sorry about that of course always a phone call but um yeah so I was looking through some of their terminology and wordage and I really like that they call it mining as well so on on one page they said become a keeper that's a host that's having a Gateway and get rewarded for providing coverage we've made mining chirp easy so we are mining the airwaves uh technically I don't think it's a Wi-Fi that the device is sending off um because when you're registering it it has like different channels so I don't know what frequency I don't I'm not technical about all that kind of stuff but um I think it's got better coverage than Wi-Fi I believe um uh hold on there's one more thing I wanted to show you guys okay um I can't find it right now but there was a page on here and it talked about the differences in chirp versus helium because they serve similar purposes but not exactly the same um so I'm going to find that link I'm going to put it down below in the description so if you guys are interested you can take a look at it uh and then if you're also interested in getting on the wait list for a device I don't even know how much these things cost uh I don't know how much they make I'm just being upfront with you guys uh this was given to me by the chirp team that's pretty much how the cookie crumbles at that point but um it is exciting uh and I'm I'm super curious to see the range on these things so um I just sent a message off uh to I assume someone from the team I don't know if he would know but um I want to know how far out this thing would go and then I also noticed uh when I was registering mine it had like estimate the height and the height were the heights were going like super insane um you know like hundreds and hundreds of meters so I assume if you're in like a city location and you know living in like a high-rise apartment putting one of these on your like balcony or something would be in just the cats meow but anyway ladies and gentlemen um this has been a experience and hopefully we'll have some updates when I get verified and I'll see you on the next one adios if you have any questions comment down below let me know later guys
